Harmonized Sales Tax, commonly referred to as HST, is a consumer tax resulting from the combination of the Canadian Goods and Services Tax (GST) and provincial sales tax (PST).

The HST is collected by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) which then remits the appropriate amounts to the participating provinces.

Ontario and B.C. implemented Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) July 1, 2010, joining Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Newfoundland and Labrador where HST has already been in effect since 1997.

The HST rate in all these provinces is 13% except for Nova Scotia, where the HST rate is 15% and B.C. , where the HST rate is 12%.

Four provinces still have provincial sales tax. The provincial sales tax rates of these provinces are:

  • Manitoba: 7% Retail Sales Tax (RST)
  • Prince Edward Island: 10% Provincial Sales Tax (PST)
  • Saskatchewan: 5% Provincial Sales Tax (PST)
  • Québec: 7.5% Quebec Sales Tax (QST)

Alberta, Yukon, Nunavut, and the Northwest Territories have no provincial sales taxes and therefore no Harmonized Sales Tax either. Full story…

The difference between a tenant loan and the other types of loans is that one does not need to keep any property of his/her as collateral to get the loan. This is an unsecured loan given to those who do not own a home for themselves.

The only disadvantage of tenant loans is that the interest rates they thrust upon the loan applier are far more than any secured loan rate. Now the question arises that how to get a cheap tenant loan? To get a lower rate of interest on your tenant loan you need to have a fine credit rating so that you can approach a lender with a big name or a high-street bank as they provide improved rates on tenant loans.

Firms for loan brokerage can help you find the right place to apply for according to your loan requirements and credit rating.

Rolls-Royce display vehicle at the Canadian International 2011 Auto Show in Toronto on February 19, 2011.

The luxury German carmaker, Rolls-Royce, will unveil the company’s first electric powered vehicle, the Rolls-Royce Phantom 102EX, at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show, which is scheduled to open on March 1, 2011.

Rolls-Royce said in the announcement that it is committed to continuing to provide an authentic Rolls-Royce driving experience, going on to say the new electric Phantom will not initially be available to consumers as the company says it is using the model to evaluate performance, range, and how consumers would react to an electric vehicle from the company.

The Rolls-Royce Phantom is the company’s flagship, most luxurious vehicle, which starts at a base price of USD $380,000.

The Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupé is a 6.3-lt V12 and weighs in at 5,800-lb, it is an extremely large and heavy vehicle, and the company needs to ensure if it is going to be powered with electricity (even partly) in the future that it works as expected by consumers, who would be paying over USD $443,000 for even the base model.

The current production Rolls-Royce Phantom gets 11 mpg in city driving, compared to 18 mpg in highway driving, according to the EPA. Driv Full story…

In this economy it’s easy to assume that all applicants are lucky to get interviewed, but when you carry that attitude into the hiring process it becomes a lightning rod for the talent you are trying to attract. There are certain fields where this is an exception, I can think of technical fields and the medical field where personality isn’t the most attractive trait, but for the rest of business there is something to be said for soft skills on the hiring end. Talented employees are generally looking for a company that mirrors their beliefs and values and treating them like they should be grateful they have the opportunity to work can send them right out the door.  If you recruitment division is breaking any of these rules, maybe it’s time to decide what type of talent you are looking for.

You are not the best thing that has ever happened to them.

I know it’s a rough economy and people are lucky to have jobs, but by that same token you are lucky to have employees. The fact

Here is our latest article on Savings Tips

In my younger years, I went through money like it was water. I know that there are a lot of people who do this, and I think it is because sometimes our sense of responsibility has not caught up with the amount of our paycheck. Even though people tried to give me saving money tips on many things, I for the most part ignored this advice. Had I listened sooner, I think I would have quite a bit more in my savings account than I do right now.

I don’t think it’s ever too late nor too soon to start to use some money saving tips to make life a bit more at ease. It really doesn’t matter how much money you have, there is always a way to save money and, consequently, always a need to do so. Maybe not for those out there whom have millions in the bank, but those are few and far in between. The r
